Lithuania Adds Malta, Slovakia and Slovenia to Its List of High-Risk Countries Removes Wales
Lithuania’s government has added Malta, Slovakia and Slovenia to its COVID-19 high-risk countries list, and has removed Wales from the same list, after evaluating the current Coronavirus situation, Lithuania’s Ministry of Health has announced through a statement.
According to the Ministry’s report, the decision will take effect from today, November 30, AtoZSerwisPlus.Mt reports.
Following the example of a large number of European countries, Lithuania has also divided countries into categories. The states are listed in green, yellow, red and grey, depending on the COVID-19 situation.
“When Lithuania enters the red zone, only the countries and regions in the grey zone are considered to be affected countries: Northern Ireland, Scotland, Liechtenstein, Malta, Slovakia, Slovenia and Switzerland, as well as all third countries,” the Ministry’s report reads.
Internationals wishing to enter Lithuania from countries that are considered profoundly affected by the virus will be required to follow quarantine rules or test for the Coronavirus, upon their arrival to the country.
Lithuania’s grey list includes countries that have 300 or fewer tests per 100,000 patients, during the seven days or countries that do not provide data to the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC).
“However, even with a negative test result, it is recommended to limit the number of contacts and not to visit gathering places for ten days after returning or arriving in Lithuania,” the statement reveals.
Persons who arrive or transit through any of these countries must stay self-isolated for ten days, as they are considered to have been in contact.
The Coronavirus test can be performed upon arrival in Lithuania; however, persons will be required to follow the quarantine process until they obtain the negative results of the COVID-19 test.
Earlier this month, the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control marked the whole Lithuania in red, considering it as a high-risk country.
Up to this point, Lithuania has registered over 61,300 cases of COVID-19 infection, while 506 have died. The country is facing 46,608 active cases of the Coronavirus disease while 14,211 have been recovered, as yet.
