UK Travellers to Soon Be Able to Enter Malta Restriction-Free

The Maltese authorities just recently announced that all COVID-related restrictions would be lifted on July 25.

This means that as soon as the COVID entry rules get officially dropped, UK travellers will no longer be required to present a vaccination, recovery, or test certificate upon their entry to Malta, AtoZSerwisPlus.mt reports.

The Maltese authorities decided to lift their entry rules at the end of this month, despite the increasing number of infection cases across the country and further in the continent.

The World Health Organization (WHO) shows that Malta has reported 1,917 new COVID-19 infection cases in the last seven days. Nonetheless, since the vaccination rates remain high, the country plans to open for travellers during summer.

While Malta has yet to officially drop its rules, travellers from the UK can currently travel restriction-free to a total of 25 EU/Schengen Area countries.

The list of the EU/Schengen Area countries that have lifted tall of their COVID entry rules until now and permit restriction-free entry to all travellers includes Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Croatia, Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Greece, Germany, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Poland, Portugal Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden, and Switzerland.

Travellers from the UK as well as those from other countries can enter the above-mentioned destinations regardless of whether they hold a vaccination, recovery, or test certificate.

As soon as Malta drops its entry rules for all travellers, the country is expected to register a high number of arrivals in August.

Previously, AtoZSerwisPlus.mt reported that Malta was among the European destinations that neared pre-pandemic volumes in May.

The European Travel Commission showed in its quarterly report that Malta is part of European tourism hotspots that registered a high number of holidaymakers in May 2022 and remained only slightly behind the pre-pandemic volumes registered in May 2019.

Despite not being able to reach the pre-pandemic levels in May, Malta is expected to record increased tourist volumes in August. It is predicted that a significantly higher number of holidaymakers will choose Malta as a summer destination as soon as the restrictions get lifted.
